For several years particularly in Germany and Switzerland there has been an increasing number of scientific discussions about combined courses including different social science subjects. According to contemporary models of integration and despite an existence of 50 years the combined courses could not be accepted as interdependent subjects because amongs other things there is no common ground in terms of content. This article presents possible constituting elements of a school subject social scienes. These elements have been empirically researched using a qualitative analysis of all previously published curricula in Germany of combined courses including different social science subjects.
